The problem
What is presbyopia?
Presbyopia, or ageing eyes, is the gradual loss of the ability to focus up close. With age, the crystalline lens (the natural lens behind the iris) becomes stiffer and no longer changes shape as easily to focus on what is close to you.
It is a normal change with age, not a disease. It usually becomes noticeable shortly after 40 and it happens to all of us, even if we have never worn glasses.
It cannot be slowed down or reversed, but it can be corrected very well with glasses or contact lenses.

Are pharmacy reading glasses any good for presbyopia?
Ready-made reading glasses can be bought without a prescription, but the prescription you need should come from an eye test. In the test we also check whether there is another vision problem, such as astigmatism or a different prescription in each eye.
Are there contact lenses for presbyopia?
Yes. Multifocal (or varifocal) contact lenses have several prescription zones to see up close and far away. Another option is monovision, which corrects one eye for distance and the other for near. Both need an adaptation period; our contact lens specialists help you choose.
Are there eye drops for presbyopia?
There are pilocarpine eye drops that reduce the size of the pupil and improve near focus for a few hours; they have to be used daily and do not cure presbyopia. They are medicines: it is the ophthalmologist who assesses whether you are a candidate and prescribes them.
Can presbyopia be operated on?
There are surgical options, such as laser monovision or an intraocular lens implant, which must be assessed by the ophthalmologist in each case. Presbyopia is a very common vision disorder that appears with age: the crystalline lens of the eye loses flexibility and finds it harder to focus on near objects. Unlike short-sightedness or long-sightedness, it does not depend on the shape of the eye but on natural ageing, so sooner or later it happens to all of us. That is why it is also called ageing eyes.
Symptoms of presbyopia

Glasses for presbyopia
Glasses for presbyopia are the simplest solution. Single vision glasses have a single prescription and are for seeing up close: reading, sewing or looking at your phone. Varifocal glasses change prescription gradually across the lens: at the top for distance, in the middle for intermediate distance and at the bottom for near, without the line of bifocals. Contact lenses for presbyopia

Trato humano muy bueno. La calidad de las gafas nefasta, propaganda engañosa en mi caso. Valoraré poner hoja de reclamaciones en consumo ya que la solución que me han dado a mi problema, cristales que se empañan nada más usarlos y montura defectuosa, es comprarme otras y pagar el 50% después de haber pagado por unas gafas, repito, defectuosas, más de 1000 euros.
No volveré, ni hablaré bien de ustedes.

Me compré dos gafas en mayo, me dijeron que tardaban 3 días y tardaron 3 semanas en dármelas. Cuando me las probé me mareé en la óptica. Me fui a casa y me las puse y tuve un mareo que me duro varias horas, no podía hacer nada ni cuidar de mi hijo. Fui a la óptica y me dijeron que no entendían que pasaba que era super raro. Me hicieron un cambio y me dieron otras gafas. Otra vez esperando una semana. Más de un mes sin gafas. Pues con las gafas nuevas también me mareaba pero menos. Fui y me decían que no entendían que pasaba que era muy raro. Al final me he ido a otra óptica y es que estaban mal graduadas y el centro óptico mal puesto. Me he gastado 180€ en perder el tiempo y dar vueltas y no tener gafas que me valgan.
